Our Story

FAWDC (Fiji Association of Washington D.C.) was born out of Cyclone Winston in 2016. The strongest cyclone ever to hit Fiji, it caused tremendous destruction to the country. We formed the association in March 2016 to raise funds to assist with relief efforts. However, after reflecting on the needs in Fiji, we decided to establish the association as a foundation to actively raise funds and get other assistance to meet needs in Fiji. We decided to focus on improving the education of children in remote rural areas. Many of us grew up in remote Fiji and are grateful for the gift of education we received that transformed our lives. We want to give the same gift to promising children in remote areas in the hope that their lives will also be transformed.
